In 1892 the building was converted to a hotel and has been providing guests with first class hospitality and service ever since. The County enjoys one of the finest locations in the city, right in the heart of the pedestrianised High street and less than five minutes walk from the Cathedral. At the rear of the Hotel, where weary travellers once tethered their horses, there is now a car park for 60 cars. The Hotel has 73 bedrooms have been recently refurbished.
