Calcot Manor worked very well for a large, wedding function. I am sure that it is good to for business away days and the like. I do not think I would go there for pure leisure "get away" as it is not very soothing. A huge car park suggests that
the individual traveller is not its core market. It is a friendly place and perfectly comfortable; but I did not get a "wow" factor from my visit.

Mrs Magellan and I took the "Berkeley Suite" - a large bedroom and bathroom divided by a small rather featureless sitting room. Whilst spacious, we felt the room lacked character - a deficit of pictures and rather dull magnolia paint
made for a soulless feel. A cheerful wall paper would have worked wonders!
A little more heating would have been desirable though I realize how hard it is to heat an old Cotswold manor house! I liked the electronic key fob arrangement.
Bed very comfortable and excellent feather pillows. Drawer space was inadeqate even for a one night stay. Good quality coat hangers. Lighting reasonable. Bathroom Molten Brown unguents were good. Nice large bath. Bathrobe looked as though it was heading for the charity shop with its ripped belt loops. This hotel needs more attention to detail!

pretty good condition overall but some of the carpetting too worn out for a hotel at this level. Staff very friendly (though room service quick but a bit amateur eg forgotten toast at breakfast). Lots of facilities (pool, spa) though we did not use them. Nice bar.
Rather cosy atmosphere. Lots of umbrellas provided which was thoughtful
given the layout of the place.

We attended a large, formal wedding dinner in a function room. The food was really excellent, cheese souffle, a lamb confection and fig tatin with honey ice cream.
The room service breakfast was good too with proper squeezed orange juice and good coffee with proper brown sugar. I judge they take food seriously here.

Nice part of the world. Tetbury is very historic and there is a lot to see and do in the area around the hotel. Hotel has some historic buildings (which are quite spread out with converted barns and the like) but is located on quite a busy road.
Probably lovely in spring or summer but a wet January weekend did not show the place at its best!
