The best hidden gem in Canterbury

, 03/07/2009] Having studied in Canterbury for three years and feeling guilty that we had'nt explored our home for the past three years we decided to take in all the sites and delights of Canterbury. Without doubt the most enjoyable and fun was Canterbury Historic River Tours, the tour was 40 minutes long and our guide George was hilarious. His knowledge of the history of the builings was excellent laced with great humour, it was obvious that he and the other guides really enjoyed their job as when the differant boats passed they exchanged great banter between them, check out their legging it story! by the

This article appeared in Kent on Sunday on 1 June 2008 (page 12). It was written on the occasion of the River Tour's 75th anniversary ("albeit a year late" because of a legal dispute). "In one guise or another" the attraction has operated since 1932. It was started by a city guide who found that in other places such as Chester and Bruges "very full use was made of the river to give pleasure".
