The country tourist centre of La Josa comes to life from an ancient pepper dryer factory.
Located on the outskirts ( 3 km. ) of the town of Candeleda, halfway the Tietar river and mountain range of Gredos, is a country property of more than 10.000 square meters outside of the provincial park of Sierra de Gredos. From the terrace or rooms' balcony you can see the river lowland as far as the city of Oropesa 60 km. away, an extraordinary landscape frontier of the Tietar valley and the Extremaduran region of La Vera.
Because of its location south of the range it enjoys an excellent climatology with cool summers and mild winters free of ice and snow, very different from the rest of the province of Avila.
It is a splendid place to rest and enjoy the peace and quiet of the surroundings.
THE ACCOMMODATION
The common shared areas consist of a dining room, a living room and a garden surrounded by trees and plants with a view to the Tietar valley where you can make breakfast or dinner in summer nights, with smells of fig trees and jasmine. The living room and dining room with a canopy fireplace are between the stable and the old woodshed.
The house has six double bedrooms with king size beds, some with possibility of an extra bed. Three of them are in the attic
All of them have bathroom, heating system and excellent views.
The food you can eat is what the owner´s wife cooks in her kitchen stove, a traditional Spanish cuisine with produce from her own vegetable garden and products from the nearest town of Candeleda.
Big bowls for breakfast with toasted loafs of bread,coffee, milk and orange juice ínvite you to start a beautiful day and enjoy the natural surrounding area.
ACTIVITIES
The other main element around La Josa is the water, gorges, natural pools, water wells, waterfall you can find at any of the routes you take around the house for a walk.
We give information about visits to any interesting point in the area. If you prefer outdoor sports there is horse trails, fishing, canoeing, climbing, biking and routes you can walk for a day. There is also hunting or golf at a nine holes field, modern and secluded in a country landscape at the foothills of Sierra de Gredos.
VISITS
Closed by is the sanctuary of Chilla, caves of El Aguila or celtic ruins of El Raso.
For a longer trip you have lots of options, La Vera Valley or El Jerte Valley, the citys of Trujillo, Plasencia,Toledo, Avila and of course the Yuste Monastery.
