Situated "in the shadow of" Parliament House, just a couple of minutes drive from the centre of town, the Hyatt Hotel is a favourite amongst celebrities. It first opened in 1924, and was, for "many years" very "important" for Australian "social and political life" as "key decisions" were often made here "over drinks in the bar". The staff here are dressed in 1920s "costumes" emphasising the place's "atmosphere".
The "original" building shelters 39 rooms with a "more historical appeal" over 2 floors, whereas the newer wing, built in the 1980s offers more "modern" rooms. Rooms have "king size" beds and all the comfort and "little luxuries" expected from such a hotel. Frommers very highly recommend the Hyatt.
