[magdadh, 26/11/2010] We spent a happy afternoon touring the Glenbow Museum after our visit to nearby Calgary Tower. It is a good regional museum, with an excellent collection and enough variety to maintain interest even of those who are not big museum buffs.
The Mavericks exhibition is really good. The introductory video is very gushy-American in style (but then Alberta seems to be the most American of Canadian provinces, more American even than Toronto area despite not having that grating accent), but the displays are fascinating and imaginatively presented, with pictures, maps, 3-D tableaux and audio. [magdadh, 25/11/2010] We spend a whole morning walking the paths in the Calgary Zoo and the time we had (about three and half hours) was not enough to see everything at out leisure (and we didn't see the furthest-away animals anyway). [jo145, 13/08/2008] Close to airport and downtown Calgary, this is a suite hotel and charged as room only, so you can eat in the restaurant or go out for meals as you please. An indoor pool and gym is available or relax in the 4th Avenue Lounge. Comfortable, clean and good value. The 4th Avenue cafe has an Asian twist to the menu, but a large selection of dishes to choose from and reasonably priced. Starbucks coffee is served.
