[more]The Abbey Museum was established in 1934. It is devided into 2 parts. The first half is dedicated to the history of Western Europe over the last million years to modern times. The second half is dedicated to the ancient and classical world (Egypt, Mesopotamia, Persia and so on).
The Museum includes collections of prehistoric artefacts, ceramics, stained glass, metalwork, woodwork, sculpture, manuscripts and rare books, Renaissance and Baroque paintings, frescos and others.
The Museum shop sells souvenirs and a wide range of books.
Each July Abbey Museum hosts Medieval Tournament when colourful spectacles are held.
The Museum works Monday to Saturday from 10am to 4pm. It provides free parking, easy wheelchair access and it is airconditioned through the year.
