[Praskipark, 06/02/2012] Andrássy Avenue is one of my favourite boulevards in Budapest but there is another colourful street that is worth visiting for lots of reasons - its name is Váci utca. Why is it interesting? There is always something happening here throughout the year. Váci utca is a pedestrian precinct which emerges from the northern side of Vörösmarty Square. During the day most activity focuses on the exclusive shops and in the evening on the many bars, restaurants, nightclubs and gambling houses that thrive in and around the Váci utca. There are numerous characters dotted around the precinct selling hand

[Praskipark, 02/02/2012] Matthias Church is situated in the centre of Buda's Castle District - actually next door to the famous Hilton Hotel where you can see the reflections of the church and surrounding buildings in the windows of the hotel's windows. This is fascinating and the detail of the reflections is astounding.
Because of its proximity to the Hilton and the reflection of its attractive facade the church does receive hordes of visitors. A hundred years ago the church's Gothic foundation and walls received extravagant decoration but nowadays visitors are more interested in the way the light enters through gar

[Praskipark, 31/01/2012] One of the busiest squares in Budapest is Deák Ferenc tér and one of the reasons the square is always buzzing with people is because the city's three Metro lines (M1, M2, M3) intersect here but there is another reason; from the square you can see the elegant cupola that belongs to St Stephen's Basilica. This beautiful neo-Romanesque church is about 300 metres to the north of the square and one of the main sights to see in Budapest.
Why the church is called a 'basilica' I am not sure because the architecture doesn't exactly remind me of Roman styles. During its construction in 1868, the magnifi

[Praskipark, 29/01/2012] The Central Market Hall in Budapest was one of the first Market Halls I ever visited in Eastern Europe. I remember being totally bowled over by the atmosphere and all the colourful characters inside the hall as well as the numerous stalls selling just about everything you can imagine. I have been to quite a few Market Halls since but this is still one of my favourites and one I always visit when returning to Budapest.
The market began to thrive as a modern market in the early 20th century, when goods were delivered via the Danube and an underground canal. It is always teeming with people on b

[Praskipark, 17/01/2012] In most hotels in Budapest you will see a stand that rotates with small cards advertising attractions, restaurants and bars in the city. Last time I was in Budapest I picked up a small card from one of these stands illustrating a very eccentric but beautiful building. The building in question is the Hungarian House of Photography named Mai Mano House.
Maio Mano was a passionate photographer who loved to paint portraits of children. He eventually became the photographer for the Imperial and Royal Court of Hungary. This unique eight storey building which bears his name was built in 1893 / 94 as

[Praskipark, 16/01/2012] Margaret Island in the Danube is situated between Margit hid to the south and Arpad hid to the north. A fertile spot which is two and a half kilometres long and up to 500 metres wide. The island has shady parks, good swimming pools, romantic ruins, pretty cafes and elegant hotels and restaurants; just the place to escape the hustle and bustle of the busy city on a summer's day.
Despite its urban setting, the island is an oasis of tranquility. Private cars are not allowed but there are other forms of transport you can hire to get around. At the northern end of the island at Bringovar (Bike Cas

[Praskipark, 13/01/2012] Ludwig Museum or sometimes known as the Museum of Contemporary Art in Budapest is a museum I came across by picking up one of those mini cards from the hotel I was staying in last year in June. Although I am a graphic artist myself I have to say that I am not overly keen on visiting art galleries or exhibitions. The main reason being I find a lot of galleries very stuffy, pretentious and too silent. I am often disappointed by seeing great pieces of work by famous artists. They don't seem to live up to their reputations.
The Ludwig Museum is the only gallery / museum in Hungary to exhibit Inter

[Praskipark, 11/01/2012] I think I have mentioned before about Budapest being a fantastic city. There is always something to do whether it is visiting thermal baths, strolling on Andrassy Street, peeping in at the museums and at galleries, wining and dining in some very stylish cafes and restaurants or even travelling on the Metro. I have reviewed several sightseeing attractions already but one I have forgotten is the Children's Railway; a delightful way to spend forty five minutes of your time when in Hungary's capital.
The Children's Railway is at the terminus of the Cogwheel Railway which runs through one of the m

[magdadh, 18/11/2011] Matthias Church (named after a popular king that held two weddings here officially it's The Coronation Church of Our Lady) was originally started in the 13th century but underwent several changes and restorations in later years. Nowadays it presents an attractive, mostly 14th century florid-Gothic exterior (restored 19th century) with a strikingly beautiful tiled roof. The next-door modern Hilton hotel has a mirror wall in which the reflections of the church play with the castle-inspired shapes of the modern building.
[magdadh, 18/11/2011] Immediately next to the Matthias Church is the Halászbástya or Fisherman's Bastion, an unashamedly mock-Gothic structure that provides unsurpassed viewing terrace but is also a rather attractive (despite its clearly 19th century origins) structure in itself, with its grand staircases, cute conical turrets and many walkways. Stephen I in bronze watches the tourists milling bellow his horse-mounted statue, guarded by the falconers in medieval garb, complete with a hooded eagle but with very modern mobile phones. We walk back down to the Danube bank, the balconies and terraces of the Bastion rais

[magdadh, 24/10/2011] We follow the Buda bank of Danube towards another of the Budapest landmarks, the Chain Bridge (Szechenyi Lanchid), founded in 1849 by the philanthropist and reformer Istvan Szechenyi who devoted many years to the greater task of regulating the Danube which would turn the great river into a reliable, viable trading route. The Lanchid is the oldest of the seven road bridges of Budapest (before that, the only crossing of the Danube was by a ferry or a pontoon bridge).
The building of the bridge had not only a practical but also a symbolic significance, foretelling the future unification of Buda

[ancam, 22/09/2011] Not only once we asked for accommodation here in Korona, and each time the quick reply, flexible options offered and later on the accommodation and services were absolutely delightful, so the only concern a guest has is how to come back to Budapest again, to enjoy these travel friends ... Tényleg! (come here to find out what it means :-) )

[RomanaToporova, 18/08/2011] I visited this hotel with my friends during the Sziget Festival. It's very close to the island and we decide not to sleep in tents so we choosed Lido Hotel to take a nap after the concerts. We come to see Prince and Dizzie Rascal. Anyway, the hotel was cheap and clean and that was all we need after when we come back from there, in the morning. Next year if we visit hungary again for that occasion we definitely stay here again.
[barbaracen, 15/08/2011] Old fashioned building but very clean everywhere. My mate and me were there for a few night. We haven't spend so much time in the hotel but our experiences were good. For that price we got what we expected. Worth the price. I suggest for businessman's.

[Ohio, 14/08/2011] I visited this motel for one night. For me it was perfect because i just stayed on night in that area. I was looking for some cheap place to stay - before i continue my trip - wich is clean and quiet. This hotel meets these requirements.
[fizzytom, 10/07/2011] Budapest’s Heroes Square stands at the top end of Andrassy utca, a most fitting position for one of the city’s best known landmarks. Known in Hungarian as Hosok Ter, not only is the square worth seeing for the magnificent monument and for the elegant buildings that surround it, it’s also a good place to get a grounding in Hungarian history.
I know very little about Hungarian history and what I do know is almost entirely post World War Two, with perhaps a smattering of the Habsburgs. Budapest is, in my opinion, one of those cities you can visit and have a thoroughly pleasant time, feeling l

[BlueStar, 30/06/2011] Not the Greatest hotel in the world, room we had was quite small on the 5th floor. But they do have bigger rooms in the hotel as we were able to change 2 out the 3 rooms we got.
Was quite clean, This is more for group holidays, wouldnt recommend for couples.
The service was great, staff were really friendly and had no problem checking in.
is close to the tube station, and sites are close by. nearest one is hero square.
If you go here order taxi from the hotel. Outside drivers would try and rip you off.
[Vasileva71, 12/06/2011] This is a good park as above. If you go there family will come much cheaper, I think the price is reduced by 50% if you have family over 5 persons. From 20 Euro per person price falls to € 10. There are a lot of fun with prizes, which most liked by the entire park. There was a room of horrors, which if passed all obstacles earn huge toy. Overall it was great.
[Vasileva71, 12/06/2011] This is the largest and richest animal zoo park in which I live there hodil.V very large number of animals, reptiles, birds and a huge number of plants. Great place for entertainment for young children. There is also a picnic spot. For all people who love animals and have a work around them recommend to bounce to the park. You definitely have to see, especially if you have kids.
[guest_Soho, 03/05/2011] The receptionist was very friendly. The suite we had was the Vampire suite, all in silver, black and the curtains blood red. A little freaky, but it was very clean, the bed was great and the location is very central. I liked it.
