[jipp05, 19/03/2011] I had heard about the Mannekin Pis for years and knew it was one of the most famous sights in Brussels so it was high on my list of things to see in the city.
It is actually a small bronze statue that is also a fountain and depicts a small naked boy peeing. How this strange little staute came to be is the stuff of legends and there are many different stories as to it's significance to the city of Brussels. To be honest though no one really knows why in 1618 Jerome Duquesnoy erected the now famous sculpture.
It is located near the Grand Place on the junction of Rue de l'Étuve / Stoofstraat and

[stef123, 31/08/2010] During my stay, I really appreciated the location and convenient public transportation. One tram and 2 buses will bring you to most major places with easy connections. I had to work in the UE area and bus 60 brought me there in 20 minutes.
I also appreciated the very helpful staff that did their best to make my stay enjoyable.
They gave me a lot of useful tips that made my stay easier. It is a honest price for such good accommodation and daily housekeeping.
I also appreciated their "green" approach to recycling and saving energy.
[koshkha, 28/06/2010] I stay in a lot of hotels and people often ask me which are the ones I remember most. Many I remember for bad reasons (mice in the beds, strange smells etc) but of the ones that really impressed me for all the right reasons, the Amigo in Brussels is well placed in my top 10. I would never have been allowed to book this under the hotel guidelines of any company I've ever worked for but when a client I was visiting booked it for us, we didn't realise it was one of the best hotels in the city. Luckily my boss was also there so he couldn't turn down my expense claim.
The Amigo has changed hands

[vasilevn, 09/06/2010] There have several hotels in the area, but I prefer this one when I'm in Brussels. The rooms price is high, but is similar to the other hotels prices ( which are also expensive ). Unlike the others, the breakfast cost is lower and also there have a free internet available. The hotel restaurant have a good reputations, but I never test it. The bar is very nice place, there have different types of Belgian beer.
The metro station ( Rogier ) and the shopping area is just a few meters from the hotel, also on less then 5 min walking is the Brussels Nord railway station - a quick connection to the ai

[mkay00, 04/12/2009] Well.. I had the opportunity to stay in this hotel on complimentary basis, so I do not have much to say about its prices :) However I would like to highlight that the services were really great here.
Basically the hotel itself is nothing special (except for the spa). Rooms are Novotel standards - we were located in a connecting room which turned out to be great for 4 of us.
The spa was really good, its design is pretty.
Food was okayish, however breakfast would need improvement.
[koshkha, 03/12/2009] In October this year I had the opportunity to stay in Brussels and my colleague suggested The White Hotel on Avenue Louise so I booked a room. We went out for dinner after our work was done for the day and then he took me to the hotel to drop me off. Luckily for me, he decided to stick around and check that everything was OK rather than just drop me and run. The receptionist was in a bad way and explained that she was "really really really sorry" but the torrential rains of that evening had caused leaks in part of the hotel and my room wasn't available because there was water coming through th

[yankin, 09/11/2009] I would like to share with you my experience at Mini-Europe, which I and my partner visited on the last day of our road trip around central Europe.
Mini-Europe is a part of the Bruparck, which consist of Mini-Europe, Atomium, aqua park Oceade, Imax cinema Kinepolis and the Village, a mixture of cafes and restaurants. It is situated about 6 km away from the city center, and it is easy to approach by Metro, line 6 towards "Roi Baudouin", or by car (they have got a huge parking). If you are looking for a parking, and you are passing aqua park you just need to go round the corner towards Atomium

[jjdh-y, 08/09/2009] Really close to major attractions e.g., Grand-Place, great restaurants and main train station. Hard to find but once you do, the reception area is very quaint and charming. The rooms tend to be on the small side, but it's really only for sleeping. The only bad thing about the hotel is the shower - curtains, regardless of what you do, allows water to spill out all over the floor. The breakfast is 'okay' - not great, not bad, just okay. However the staff is friendly and helpful. Would I stay there again if I returned to Brussels: yes; would I recommend to friends: yes. If you're looking f

[koshkha, 10/07/2009] Earlier this month I was back to Antwerp, one of the places I visit quite often for work. I'd booked my flights and asked our travel agency to put me in the usual hotel when I got a mail from my colleague there asking if I'd like to go and meet his wife and daughters and have dinner. Since they live in Brussels, he suggested he'd find me a hotel near his home and then bring me to the office the next day. Never one to turn down any alternative to eating in the restaurant at the usual hotel, I jumped at the chance and got my booking changed to the Beau Site in Brussels.

[siobhan3786, 07/07/2009] We had booked 2 rooms at Hotel Solys, and because we arrived after 6pm our rooms were cancelled and subsequently charged EUR99 cancellation fee. No attempt to contact us was made to confirm our booking and the hotel receptionist was possibly the rudest, most unapologetic and unhelpful person in the service industry I have ever encountered. He made no effort whatsoever to help us find alternative accommodation and just did not care in the slightest. In my 20+ years of travelling I have never A) come across a hotel with a 6pm check-in curfew (why is your reception even open??!!) and B) have neve

[TheDaz, 12/11/2008] Rue Montagne de la Cour 2 - A suitably dramatic location for a fantastic and oft ignored gem in Brussels. Sitting atop the Mont Des Arts, a steep and wide hill that links the tourist-filled and workaday Lower Town to the aristocratic and imperial Upper Town, and bedecked with topiary and sculptures, the outdoor surroundings balance the elegant metalwork structure of the Museum.
Based on a collection started in 1877, and officially part of the Royal Museums of Art & History, the Museum contains some 1,500 musical instruments from throughout history and from all over the world. formerly the Old

[TheDaz, 12/11/2008] The Silken Hotel Berlaymont Brussels (to give it the proper name), is one of Brussels finer establishments, sitting, in my humble opinion, at the level below the grand old palatial hotels that most capital cities seem to have, but above the standard business hotels that also abound.
Now - before I start - I should point out that contrary to perception, Brussels is a very nice city full of things that tourists can see and do (see my review on the Musical Instrument Museum to be a believer!), and not at all a large and dull EU office. It's cheaper than Paris, leaner than London, closer than B

[TheDaz, 10/11/2008] Parc du Cinquantenaire. So good they named it 50 times. No wait...that's just silly. Only Americans do that kind of thing. Brussels is full of great places to visit, and this is just one of them, although for me, probably the best. Many people believe that Brussels is a rather dull place, full of Eurocrats and little else.
The park however, situated in the leafy Etterbeek district of Brussels is actually rather marvellous. An elegantly designed swath of 30 Hectares, littered with fountains and gravelled paths that march up to the enormous horse-shoe structure of the Cinquantenaire. Joined t

[TheDaz, 07/11/2008] 'Great idea - let's shrink the visitors down to Sub-Atomic level, and let them wander around an Iron Crystal. Do we have a device we can use to shrink the visitors, and then re-enlarge them later?'
In 1958 - science was a bit like this. Think of all those wacky ideas to get us colonised on Mars by 2010 and all have personal robots in homes. (Oh the lunacy of it all). Thankfully though, the planners for the 1958 International Exhibition Of Brussels (another convoluted title, and oh look, parentheses!), decided it would be easier to make the Iron Crystal larger and let visitors wander around

[Dee2206, 30/08/2005] This impressive hotel located on the Avenue Louise was close to Brussels' most fashionable shopping district. The 5 star Hotel Bristol Stephanie is ideally situated for both business and leisure travellers.
The hotel offers 142 spacious bedrooms (Classic and Executive), a restaurant - Le Chalet d'Odin, a bar
- Stefany's, conference and banqueting rooms, a fitness centre with a swimming pool and an underground parking.
We booked this hotel through Expedia.com for two nights travelling on 17th June 2005 (Friday to Sunday), and paid only £100.00 (145 Euros) for two people in a standard r
