[frangliz, 30/05/2012] Since my younger son moved to Bristol in 2008, I had never stayed the night there when visiting him. However, in May 2012 my elder son and his partner were driving up to Snowdonia and wanted to stop somewhere on the way for a night. They suggested I go with them on the Friday afternoon and we spend the night in Bristol. We wanted a hotel in the city that wasn’t too expensive and had a car park. I offered to do the research, and the choice was between the Holiday Inn Express and the Ibis, both at £59 for a room. I’ve seen the rooms at the Portsmouth Ibis and found them claustrophobic; we all ag

[frangliz, 12/03/2012] Having visited Bristol City Museum and Art Gallery on more than one occasion, I'd always looked at Browns Bar and Brasserie next door to it and wondered if it would be a good place to have lunch. It is a fascinating piece of architecture that looks almost as though it could have been a church, but apparently it was once part of the museum. It was restored in 1992 and Browns opened their establishment there. There is a number of stone steps to be negotiated up to the entrance; not suitable for the disabled, unfortunately, but very popular with young people as a place to sit and sip a drink in s

[frangliz, 27/02/2012] One of my sons decided he'd had enough of Southsea and was offered a job in Bristol, so off he went. Having given him three weeks to settle in, I thought it was about time I went for a visit. It's a city I was until now totally unfamiliar with, but it seems to have a lot to offer. After a good walk and a visit to the museum, we were feeling peckish and ready for a sit down. My son suggested Wagamama, having been once before, and I'm usually ready to try a new place. Southsea has nothing in the way of Japanese restaurants and I can't vouch for the authenticity of Wagamama, but at least it was a

[nam2505, 29/01/2012] Decent enough hotel - room was a good size, clean and well equipped although the bed was ridiculously soft!!!. Staff were very helpful and friendly and the free weekend car parking was a bonus for a city centre hotel.
The hotel restaurant was ok - the food was good but over-priced and the service was a little on the slow side.
I would definitely recommend The Bristol and will probably stay again but next time will research local restaurants more thoroughly for dinner options.
[frangliz, 17/09/2011] Cabot Circus, opened in September 2008, is Bristol's largest shopping complex. It has ample car parking space, but is also easily reached by local buses and is only fifteen to twenty minutes' walk from Bristol Temple Meads railway station.
The centrepiece of Cabot Circus is the Glasshouse, a three-storey construction with a partial glass roof that affords both protection and light. The upper levels can be reached by either steps, escalators or a lift. At the time of my visit in November 2008, it was easy to find knowledgeable staff on the ground level handing out plans of Cabot Circus and ans

[frangliz, 06/09/2011] Having recently visited Portsmouth City Museum and Art Gallery, I was interested to see how its counterpart in Bristol compared. I expected that perhaps it would be a grander affair, and I was right. Whereas Portsmouth concentrates mainly on local history and art, Bristol, whilst giving prominence to local artists and exhibits, has world-class displays in its galleries.
The museum is housed in an imposing three-storey Edwardian building; the stairs are not steep and there is a lift to certain areas on the upper floors, but you do have to call an attendant to operate the lift. How easy it is

[frangliz, 05/09/2011] The Blue Reef Aquarium in Bristol is the most recent one to open, the four others being located in Portsmouth, Hastings, Newquay and Tynemouth. I have to admit that the adult admission charge of £13.50 initially sounded high to me, but we were in Bristol on a wet afternoon and it seemed a good way to spend some time.
The first section of the aquarium that visitors enter has very low lighting and a series of tanks of various sizes. I was particularly fascinated by the jellyfish floating slowly and gracefully, and the pipefish that are almost camouflaged amongst the water weeds. Some of the ta

[frangliz, 22/08/2011] Piccolino is an Italian restaurant on Broad Weir in Bristol's Cabot Circus shopping area. We arrived there about 5pm one Friday afternoon, which was certainly a quiet time. There were five of us, and while final preparations were made to our table our coats were taken and all put together on one hanger. We were given an identifying plastic disc for their retrieval.
Our table was a round one by a floor-to-ceiling window; there were several tables just outside on the pavement but they weren't being used as there had been several heavy showers of rain during the day. The tables are black with a

[walkaboutwarner, 08/07/2011] Fantastic hotel, will be returning!
[winkvyner, 10/02/2011] great hotel, right in bristol city centre across the square from the bristol hippodrome theatre.
hotel restaurant & bar menu are both reasonably priced, but there are loads of restaurants just a few steps away from hotel.
had a lot of trouble trying to work out the heating in the room as the instructions were missing from the hotel folder, might be better and more practical if the were on the wall beside the controls, also thought the lighting in room was not the best, very hard to read with bedside lamps. also the tea tray is situated in a cubby hole beside the built in wardrobes, but you

[sharon060310, 22/09/2010] A number of my family members and friends stayed in the hotel24 / seven in various rooms for the period of a week. When we were married in Bristol in March. The hotel and the staff were wonderful. They dealt with all our separate bookings in two languages quickly and without any confusion. The rooms were clean modern and excellent value. The hotel only 10mins to the center of town. 10 out of 10 and thankyou so much.
[tonymillington, 04/05/2010] Great location close to centre and variuos resturants and pubs, by the river. High quality, friendly reception, would stay again.
[ekrimoa, 18/03/2010] I should perhaps admit up front that architecture has always been a personal interest of mine.
For that reason, the Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol is one of my favorite bridges in the UK. It is a marvelous work of construction, especially when one considers that it was built in the early 1800s!
The view from the bridge is absolutely stunning (assuming you're able to go on a day when the weather is favorable), and is a great way to see the nicer side of the English countryside!
For the romantics out there, the sound of the rushing wind blowing around you is quite poetic also!
[cjm215, 05/03/2010] I recently organised a stag weekend in Bristol and we stayed at Hotel24seven. We chose the hotel primarily on the price as it is very good value for Bristol. When we arrived we found a quiet and comfortable hotel. The rooms I saw were nicely decorated and furnished, many with nice art prints on the wall. The staff were friendly and helpful, both when I was organising the trip and during our stay. The hotel is a bit of a walk from the pubs / clubs (10-15 minutes) but I expect to do a bit of walking when I visit a city, and it is all on the flat. I would certainly recommend this hotel to my

[johnny-phoenix22, 03/02/2010] I stayed at Hotel24seven in December 2009 and booked two rooms, one for my flat mate and one for me and my lady. I was paying as a treat, so I wanted somewhere cheap but wanted our own rooms, the place was perfect. Access was through keycodes that we were sent via email, and despite revervations about the no-staff approach, we had no problems and I was impresesd hhow quickly they answered the phone and returned emails when I wanted to confirm the booking.
We had free parking, internet and Bristol town was a very short walk away, so we could go out for a meal and hit the town for drinks in the

[kaylabear26, 25/01/2010] We stayed at Clifton Serviced Aparments a few weeks ago,the apartments are minutes walk from the pubs, clubs and shops. Great value for money and everthing you need. I would reccomend the apartment to anyone.
[Daceydawg, 14/12/2009] I have been using this hotel 2 -3 times a month for the last 8 months and have found it to be excellent value. It is always clean and tidy and has all of the amenities required for a quick buisiness stop over, even a fridge to cool the beers. A short walk from the centre of the city centre it is far enough away to avoid any nightlife noise and also away from the many main roads that permeate the centre. Having stayed in the budget rooms and the deluxe rooms (£30 - £60) I would highly recommend to anyone who is looking for either business or pleasure and is not worried about having a manned rec

[greejn, 14/11/2009] Overall a good experience. Staff were very friendly and helpful, though due to an event there were delays at check-in reception. Room quality was excellent, with a great TV, extremely comfortable beds, good ensuite bathroom, very high standard of cleanliness. Some traffic noise throughout the night, as there is a busy road very close to the hotel, but this wasn't a real problem. Usual tea and coffee making facilities were provided. As the hotel is yards from a multi-storey car park and also very close to a shopping mall, the parking is convenient, and not too expensive. Venue facilities were i

[dsmith1974, 10/11/2009] After trying out a few of the B&Bs during a six month contract I stumbled across the Hotel 24 / 7 which was comparable to one of the larger (i.e. Novotel) Hotels in terms of cleanliness and facilities but an absolute bargain at only £30 per-night.
I was impressed enough to book into their sister hotel (the Short Let on 2 Coronation Road) for the remainder of my stay (about 5.5 months). The Short-Let is basically the same as the 24 / 7 but specializes in longer term stays which means no more ferrying books and radios to and fro on the train each week and gives the option of staying in Bristol.

[macontravel, 06/11/2009] I have stayed at Hotel24seven many times over the last few weeks whilst working in Bristol. The rooms are great value and the decor is recent and modern; the pricing structure is fair (budget / deluxe rooms etc), and the communal areas and individual rooms have always been very clean and well maintained.
The amenities work well, even the budget rooms have a shower, fridge and tv etc, the communal kitchen is a really handy option, and there is free wireless.
I've found it comfortable and great value for money compared to other options, very convenient and easy to use, and the staff / management
