Descriptions Hotel Thornbury Castle

Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn once walked these rooms and grounds. Today, the 500 year-old castle-palace with its beautiful oriel windows, Tudor hall and historic parkland is yours for a time ? a wonderful retreat from everyday routine and also a memorable setting for formal functions such as weddings, celebrations and conferences. All rooms are luxuriously warm - most have real fires. Theyre also extremely comfortable with opulent, well-appointed bathrooms, colour TVs (carefully screened, of course) and welcoming touches such as the decanter of sherry youll find on your arrival.Step behind the heavy oak doors and youll find a magnificent hotel with roaring fires, delicious modern cuisine and sumptuous bedchambers ? a truly special setting for an overnight stay, a weekend away or for more formal occasions.

hornbury Castle Band are a brass band based in Thornbury, just north of Bristol. The band has been running for around 25 years. We play a wide range of music - some pieces we are currently playing are Grease (a new arrangement of the film music), Choral & Rockout (a piece from mid-70s consisting of a hymn-like opening and a jazzy final as the name suggests) plus recent pieces such as Sway (just covered by the Pussy Cat Dolls) and a new arrangement of a Beethoven sonata.

This Tudor castle stands serenely in 15 acres offering views of the Severn Estuary and the hills of South Gloucestershire and Wales. Fine old panelling, tapestries and paintings enrich the interior. There are 25 restored bedrooms, most overlooking the vineyard or the oldest Tudor garden in England.
