My Girlfriend and I decided to take a break from the hustle of the city and make an overnight trip to Brighton. We scoured the Internet for budget accomodation and stumbled upon the Sea Breeze.
The Sea Breeze's location was perfect for our purpose; 5 minute walk to the seafront and the famous Brighton Pier, and less than 10 to the town which is great for a few hour's shopping.
Upon arriving at the Sea Breeze, we were immediately swept away by the friendliness of the staff. Though we had arrived a few hours earlier than anticipated, we were warmly welcomed in as though we had arrived just in time, and were promptly shown to our room.
The room we stayed in was small, but very well formed - I'd be happy to descibe it as 'comfy and cosy'. It was very clean with a lovely modern and fresh decor. The bed was superb, extremely comfortable, and provided an excellent night's sleep. The Sea Breeze provide both feather and hypoallergenic pillows to ensure your comfort.
The bathroom facilities continued the 'compact' trend, but were very functional and clean. The provided toiletries were fantastic, not the usual case of single budget sachets, and were it not for the fact that they were contained in litre bottles, I was extremely tempted to bring them home with me!
The breakfast room was again decorated in a very fresh modern style with strayed from the common image of Bed and Breakfasts. I loved the retro artwork that adorned the walls. However, my only niggle with the breakfast room was the presentation of the tables. I felt there was an almost trying too hard feel as the tabletops were almost literally overflowing with cutlery and napkins, and spared little room for the actual breakfast to go. However, this is just a minor niggle as the breakfast itself soon allowed you to forget the spacial issue.
As usual, there was a selection of cereals and juices which whet the appetite for the upcoming full English. The cooked breakfast was great; the bacon was lovely and thick cut, the sausage was a nice thick cumberland, the egg and mushroom went together great, and those somewhat health conscious - the Sea Breeze fry all their food in olive-oil, and provide wholewheat toast.
Again I have to touch on the friendliness of the staff. Neither my girlfriend or myself could get over how friendly they were, and if nothing else that was a huge plus point for staying at this BnB. Though we were leaving Brighton in the evening and we had to check out by 11, the staff allowed us to keep our luggage at the Sea Breeze to be collected later in the day, which we found a huge help, and allowed us full enjoyment of our day in Brighton!
As I mentioned above, we were looking for budget accomodation. However, I wouldn't say the Sea Breeze falls under that category. As we made our trip during the off-season, the Sea Breeze offered a discounted sale-price which allowed us to stay within our budget. At the price we paid, £50 for the night, the Sea Breeze was fantastic. However, at the usual price of £70prpn, I found the room we stayed in, if no other room, fell on the small size.
