Brighton is one of the most cosmopolitan and energetic cities to visit in England. There is so much to see and do here. A great day out, no matter what time of year, is a day out on Brighton pier.
I've been going here since I was a child and it never gets tiresome. It really does have something to accommodate everybody, from timid rides to huge terrifying roller coasters, from bars to a typically English fish and chips restaurant.
The pier is well known as being among one of the best ever built and has been standing for well over a hundred years. Each and every time I've been it has always been full of people. There is no entry fee to go on the pier. At the entrance there are numerous food stands selling doughnuts and candy floss or fish and chips, hot dogs and burgers. Then you walk in and pass some of the games where you can win prizes, such as huge teddy bears. They tend to be those games where if you throw the ball in the hoop in three goes you win a prize, that kind of thing. I often find it very hard to win so try and avoid them. This bit is undercover though which is good if it's raining. After this you reach the main arcade 'dome'. There are so many electronic games to play in here, such as the dance mat, racing cars and motorbikes, air hockey and loads more. If you keep walking down the pier you will come across, gift shops, shops selling odds and sods, a wagon that does palm readings inside, the few bars and restaurants that were mentioned above and my favorite part of all, the funfair!!!They have dodgems, a giant slide for both kids and adults to go on, a waltzer, smaller children’s rides, water rides, ghost trains, rollercoaster’s...they really do have it all! You will need to buy tokens in order to go on these rides. The cost of a ride ranges from roughly 2-5 tokens. The bigger rides are usually the more expensive ones. One of the things that I think is great about the rides is that I never seem to be waiting in a queue for too long and the rides seem to last forever. Clearly one of the two is not the case.
Whilst here, you can take some time out and make use of one of the free deckchairs. This is the best way to really enjoy the view. There are also view finders that cost 50pence to use and allow you to look further out to sea.
Several toilets located on the pier too. They are checked by cleaners quite regularly so are quite clean.
I would definitely suggest to anybody visiting Brighton to go and spend some time on the pier. If you do, I don’t think you will regret it. One thing I’d suggest doing before leaving is buy a stick of rock. The pier is famous for them!!!
