Brighton station - being a terminus - would, you think be conveniently located, with the benefit of easy access and a whole chunk of facilities at the front of the station. It's far easier to run and offer services this way than a conventional station with its underpasses or bridges to far platforms.
Yet - Brighton station manages to confound this reviewer by being depressingly undersold in terms of facilities and access. One small newspaper shop with external access, one mobile coffee bar and a ticket office - and about half an acre of unused wood flooring at the ends of the platforms... the mind boggles!!
A busy station - regularly shuttling commuters one the main line to London's Charing Cross and London Bridge stations, and also serving Crawley and Gatwick Airport, not to mention the travellers who come to Brighton from the City for an escape - the sheer volume of passengers would you think merit a bit more in the way of facilities - another cafe perhaps, a fast food outlet perchance?
As for access - stuck behind the most confusing one way system ever invented - at the corner of 3 very narrow and busy roads - the station is only accessible by Taxi or Foot at the front - good luck waiting for a Bus to 8 point turn into the narrow waiting aisle.
Cars are directed on a half mile loop across a series of one way streets to the giant car park which accesses the back half of the station. Still confused? I know I was!!

Infuriatingly inaccessible and cramped up - and then loads of empty space inside put to absolutely no good use... marvellous!!
