Whilst not the largest of beaches, the North beach and promenade in Bridlington is a pleasant enough location to while away a sunny afternoon.
Whilst the south promenade is not much more an extension of the bustling fishing harbour, the north promenade, with its rival theme parks and arcade halls, evokes a civilised and relaxed feeling, seemingly unhurried by flash progress.
The small theme parks overlooking the beach operate a number of fairground rides using a token system, and the arcade halls look to have been built in the 80s and not modernised since. Fast food: both chain offerings and the ubiquitous chippy abound here, as well as small independent retailers hawking buckets and spades, inflatable rafts and all the other necessities of a seaside holiday.
The beach itself is pleasantly clean, with soft sand, chilly north sea waves, and a gentle sweep towards flamborough head in the distance.

The north promenade is at one end of Bridlington's town centre, and within easy walk of the bus and train stations. Parking is mostly in a scattering of small car parks within the town centre.
The beach is of a good size, although quite narrow at high tide, and popular enough judging by the proliferation of food outlets to get quite busy in the summer holidays.
The sand is clean enough - with plenty of chalk pebbles and seaweed washing up to aid in decorating those sand sculptures.
