Etap is not a chain I would normally consider staying at but we had a friends wedding to attend and all the other hotels in the viciity were charging silly money for a Saturday night so Etap it was!
First impressions?! - Well never having stayed in a youth hostel I don't know exactly what i'd expect but Etap was pretty much as I'd expect a YH to be. Reception was very grey, very plain, very ordinary, very basic. Although a great unexpected plus was a mini bottle of wines vending machine- fab!
Braekfast is taken in a school canteen style area and arrives on trays. At least it's not a snack box affair like some of the budget places.
The rooms were very basic and small but they included most things we needed. The bed was a double bed with a single bed bunk on top but more importantly, there was sufficient space to put up our babies travel cot...just
There wasn't a bathroom as such. These was a step in shower cubicle (the sort you might find on a plane) and a seperate loo but the sink basin was in the bedroom itself.
Be warned, the walls must be a little thin as the "nocturnal activities" of a couple of fellow guests woke me at 3am.
No telephone, no hairdryer, no toiletries etc etc but then we did only pay £29 for the night.
In future, to be fair, i wouldn't totally rule out another stay i'd much rather pay the extra and upgrade to a travellodge/premier inn if one was available
