There are "many" distilleries in Scotland which is "famed [...] all over the world" for its whisky. Bowmore is among the "earliest and least modernised" distilleries. Situated on the west-coast of Islay, a "remote" location on the shore of Loch Indaal, it was built in 1779 and has had "just five owners" in the ensuing 200+ years. Form the "white washed" distillery of Bowmore ("capital of Islay"), the visitor has access to "a lovely view of the pier". The visit starts "from the shop" where a lot of items are on sale, "the nectar itself" of course, but also clothing and "related" books. In Bowmore, visitors can see a "working malting floor", as here you are shown "he entire production process" and for this writer "there is nothing better".
