Situated just "a few blocks" away from the beach and "central" shopping zone, the Norfolk Royale is described by Mr. Porter, reviewer for Frommers, to be one of Bournemouths oldest and "most prestigious" hotels, after the Carlton and the Royal Bath.
The Norfolk Royale "underwent" a £5 million restoration, to reveal its original Edwardian "elegance" and "two-tier, cast-iron veranda". The entrance is said to be "formal", and there is a "rear" garden and fountain, under shady trees.
The guestrooms are "luxuriously appointed", according to Frommers, with "modern comforts" which merge well with the "period styles". Large bathrooms are "well equipped".
Frommers attribute two stars on their three star scale to the Norfolk Royale, and therefore very highly recommend it.
