[07/07/2007] The De Vere Royal Bath hotel dating from 1838, is described as an "early Victorian version of a French château" and incorporates "towers and bay windows looking out over the bay and Purbeck Hill". It compares well with the nearby Carlton in terms of "luxury and style" and is situated on a "1.2-hectare garden where cliff-top panoramas open onto the sea". The hotel added "Royal" to its name after the Prince of Wales (later Edward VII) stayed here. .
The furnished contents of the "mostly spacious bedrooms" possess "a certain English style and grace". Many of the recently refurbished bedrooms and bathrooms are "well maintained, luxurious, and come with Neutrogena bath products". There are also superior rooms that "also offer bathrobes and slippers". All the rooms are nonsmoking.
