[1krispy1, 22/11/2008] I recently had the opportunity to go to a college football game. There are several colleges and universities in Colorado but the crown jewel as considered by many is the University of Colorado. CU plays in the Big 12 Conference which is considered by many to be one of the top two or three in the United States. Home to the University of Colorado football program is Folsom Stadium.
It was first built in 1924 and has been expanded several times over the ensuing decades. In the most current configuration it can hold some 51,000 soles.
In my most experience I was invited to go by my girlfrien

[1krispy1, 20/10/2008] My girlfriend and I happened to be in Boulder over the weekend to deliver some photography. We talked it over and thought it would be a good time to visit the Boulder Dushanbe Teahouse. I had never been and she has been several times. It sounded like fun so off we went.
The Boulder Farmers Market runs through October and sets up right outside the door to the teahouse. When we saw that we knew it was going to be a busy day, but at the same time it gave us something to do while we waited for our table. We went inside got added to the queue and an approximate time to be back then went to the F

[1krispy1, 27/07/2008] NCAR which stands for National Center for Atmospheric Research is housed in a building designed by I.M. Pei which uses the cliff dwellings of Mesa Verde National Park as his inspiration sits atop a mesa (table top mountain) overlooking the city of Boulder, Colorado and the eastern plains beyond.
I was in Boulder and thought it worth a trip to the top of the mesa to get a look at this fantastic facility. It is in the mist of a lot of advanced thinkers and higher education. Its neighbors include the University of Colorado and NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration of the Depart

[1krispy1, 12/07/2008] One of the joys of living in the part of Colorado that I do is the proximity to both mountain and plain. Until recently I have been working in Boulder which sits right at the base of what is locally known as the Front Range. That is the mountains facing the cities of Denver, Colorado Springs, Fort Collins and Boulder are all the first mountains to be bumped into when coming from the east, the point of origin for the white settlers. Hence the front of the mountains or the Front Range.
When I was a young man on occasion after a day of work at the ski factory we would jump into the cars and he

This particular park is located at the base of the Front Range that is the backdrop for the City of Boulder. The featured formation at this point of the mountains is known as the Flat Irons. They are a large rock formation formed when the mountain were formed. The base rock was pushed and pushed until they buckled forming these huge slabs we have currently. These are well portrayed in the photographs taken by Koshka in May of 2008. P

[1krispy1, 25/03/2008] I recently took the opportunity to do a tour of the Celestial Seasonings tea factory in Boulder, Colorado. Celestial Seasonings is a manufacturer of all sorts of teas most notably of the herbal type. The tour takes the participant past stacks and stacks of raw materials including hibiscus which I noted was from no less than three countries. There was also many other ingredients waiting to be processed. The tour takes us past a milling operation the cuts up the raw material into a size that lends its self to blending, bagging and brewing. After milling comes blending, the various ingredients we

[1krispy1, 01/03/2008] I started a personal project during the last week of January to make a little DVD of the various birds I see during the year. It has been a cold winter and a lot of the lakes have been frozen. The few that have been open have provided good pictures for ducks. However after a few weeks I have been feeling like I have all the pictures for these species that I need for the project. Recently it has warmed up and I was hopeful with the warming weather, some insects starting to appear, and the approaching promise of spring would open up some new possibilities for me.
I had no idea about Walden Po

[1krispy1, 26/01/2008] The Bobolink Trail is in the south east section of the city of Boulder, Colorado. As luck would have it I work in Boulder and frequently drive by the trail. It is a bit of the beaten path of Boulder but by no means challenging to find or use, just off the main drives that's all. In fact it is well used the first attempt to get in and do a hike was blocked as the parking lot was filled. On this day however it was open and I quickly found a spot.
This section of the trail is a part of a much larger system that works its way along South Boulder Creek. We are visiting a section that runs about

[1krispy1, 26/10/2007] Many folks think of the east coast when talk of fall colors comes up. Here in the western United States we also have a very colorful changing of foliage in the fall, very underrated in my opinion by "the outside world". It is however a very big deal here.
Early in September I thought I would take the long way to work to get in some aspen viewing. You see it is the aspen trees that are the star of this fall extravaganza.
Normally my drive to work takes about 20 30 minutes depending on time of day and traffic and is only about and 18 mile journey. This day however I am taking the Peak to
