Borovetc is well known abroad between the people who like skiing.

While you are there DON'T MISS to visit Rila monastery!!!
Accessibility:
You can go there by bus roms Sofia or the nearest town - Samokov. Driving by car from Sofia takes me about 45-60 minutes by a very good road, which pass by Samokov.
After Samokov the road is also very good. The traveling is pleasant.
If there are no many cars you can park right front of the lifts, if it is full the traffic police will ask you to park on the down parking, which is also in easy walking distance to the lifts.
I give 100% for accessibility as the closest runs are right in the center of the resort and if you stay in a hotel there you can reach them in a minute. Also the roads to the resort are very good.
"Must See"-Factor
If you like skiing I am sure you would go try Borovetc runs as they are well known.
There you can have as well night skiing.
I give 100% here too cause its the most famous place for skiing in Bulgaria and ski admires shouldn't miss it!
Budget Friendliness
I haven't traveled by bus to there but by car the cost is about 10 euro.
The daily card for the local lifts in year 2006 was 13 euro. The food and beverage prices here are very expensive compare with the prices in the rest part of Bulgaria. The locals have no other business than the winter vacations so the prices are double. Pizza was about 12-15 Euro, a tea with rom 3 euro, sandwich was 2-3 euro. But still the prices compare with EU resorts are cheap so I give 70%.
Ski runs
Borovetc offers 3 ski zones with different difficulty: Central Borovetc, Markudjika and Iastrebec.
From the highest run to the end it takes me about 40-50 minutes.
Most of the time the runs are very good. There is machine for snow in case the snow is not enough and after 5 PM all the runs start to be prepared for the next day.
Usually after November there is enough snow, even 2008 is too snowy.
Except the foreigner, many Bulgarians go to the resort at the weekends, so during that time the runs can be a bit crowded.
There are runs for people with any kind of experience and for skateboarding thats why I give 100% and always in perfect condition. The resort offers runs for any kind of winter sports.
Ski-Lodge
There are many hotels, restaurants and bars around the resort famous with offering traditional dishes. I haven't heard any foreigner who didn't adore the food quality and taste even the wines. The region produce organic food and the dishes together with the tradition receipts and spices make a great combination.
Most of the hotels offer rent ski as well there is wardrobe with ski renting front of the central run. The condition of the equipments can be different as the prices.
