Set in the middle of the Ruhrgebiet (Ruhr area), the historical town of Bochum holds many tourist attractions such as fascinating historical buildings and churches, as well as a pedestrian shopping area.
2 medieval castles survive along the northern bank of the Ruhr and are well worth a visit.
For evening entertainment you can visit the theatre and enjoy the musical, Starlight Express, which has been running in the town since 1988.
