Compiled for you: The facts!Details Loch Garten Nature Reserve

Description: Loch Garten Nature Reserve is owned and managed by the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB). It is especially famous for its breeding Ospreys and there has been an Osprey observation hide here since 1959. In addition to Loch Garten, where the Ospreys can often be seen fishing, the reserve also encompasses Abernethy Forest, one of the last remaining remnants of the Caledonian Pine Forest. This unique habitat is home to some of Britain's rarest birds and animals including Capercaillie, Crested Tits, Scottish Pine Crossbills, Red Squirrels and Pine Martins .

Entry into the reserve is free for RSPB members, but there is a charge for non members of £3.00 (4.5 Euros) for adults or £2.00 (3 Euros) with concessions. Children can enter free. A family ticket (2 adults and 2 children) is also available for £6.00 (9 Euros).
The visitor centre and Osprey hide is open between April and August daily from 10am until 6pm.
