It was one of those typical rainy days in Ireland, but once you are soaked to the skin it does not really matters that much anymore.
The grounds of Blarney castle is rich with sites to experience. There is the Castle itself which also contains the Blarney stone. It is said that the one kissing the stone is blessed with eloquence, which may be useful with the women or politicians.
The woods around Blarney castle is rumored to have been home of druids, long before it became home of the castle. When you walk around the estate you will get to see and maybe even experience some of these mysteries. Do not be scared of the witch!
Previous owners of the Blarney estate has not been idling around and you will find a artificial lake, along with exotic plants and trees. Next to the castle you will find a small herb garden, but be careful since may of its herbs are poisonous.
Below the foundation of the Castle, herb garden and the walls is an entrance to the caves. People in Blarney are still discussing whether it was used for a prison, escape route or hiding gold. Since the gold was never found, many also believes it is still hiding in the caves.

The Blarney stone and castle is rated to be one of the 100 places/things to experience before you die. Though it is situated about 20-25 mins by bus from Cork, it is so well visited that bus fare regularly. Entrance is 10 Euro for adults and 8 for students incl. kissing the stone and obtaining the possible gift of eloquence.
