The Malmaison is located between a "spanking new designer clothes mall" and the new "canalside development" in the city centre. The author also notes a catalogue of cultural opportunities within walking distance. He found his guestroom to be "cool, clean and self-consiously hip" boasting "minimalist" decor but with a "superbly hard" bed and en suite bathroom with Malmaison's own toiletries.
