[Katieshaz, 30/09/2007] My boyfriend and I were looking for a hotel to stay in overnight near the Birmingham National Indoor Arena as we were going to see a gig. I stumbled across this hotel on the Internet and at a mere £35 a night for us it seemed too good to pass up. We only wanted a cheap hotel as we just wanted somewhere to sleep after the gig as Birmingham is 2 and a half hours drive away from where we live. This was the first Etap, a "cheap and cheerful" chain, to open in the UK. All rooms take up to three people but it is not totally "youth hostelly". The "clever design" gives it a feeling of space. The shower, "neatly tucked away", was "more powerful and stylish" than the price would suggest. The "budget status" was more obvious in the décor and the lack of some amenities like an iron and "fancy toiletries". There is a 24 hour deli which is also good value.
