We came across it quite by accident, simply when walking up to the Debowiec hill (and contemplating walking up to the top of Szyndzielnia). It was the first dry sledge run we have ever seen and as the price seemed quite good (less than 1 Euro per ride, or around 7 Euro per book of ten rides) we went for it. The guys who run the attractions were very friendly and helpful and spoke some English, and after a basic instruction away we went.
A dry sledge run is essentially a long, fairly high, complex slide you ride using a bobsleigh-like cart a little bit like a small roller-coaster but with much more control from the rider. Later on we went on runs that had roller-coaster like tracks, but the one on Debowiec was a half-pipe one which felt more like a real bobsleigh run. You have a brake, but the cart won't go above a certain speed anyway and apparently it's virtually impossible to fall out of the track. Still, it was pretty scary at first and I used the brake a lot! Having seen the Other Adult with the Younger Child nearly break the run's record (you get your time at the end), I got a bit braver and whizzed around faster and it was great fun indeed.
The Sloneczna Polana ride is excellent value for money. We partook in similar rides in the Gorce mountains in Poland as well as in Slovakian Tatras, but they were more expensive (particularly the Slovakian one!). Here, one ride costs 4 PLN (2011 prices), 10 rides - 30 PLN. Children under 8 years old ride free, but have to ride with an adult.
Highly recommended.
