[magdadh, 28/03/2012] This building used to house a wine-cellar and the whimsical decoration reflects this. Frogs take a pride of place, one smoking and drinking, the other playing a mandolin; there are also scarabs, floral motifs and mock portals. The house is adorned with a tower too. Altogether, a minor masterpiece of art-nouveaux (or, as it's called in this part of the world due to its Viennese origins, Secession) architecture. Now sadly taken up by a crummy oriental eatery on the ground floor level (upper floors are residential), but still very much worth a look.
