St Mary's Church is situated close to Beverley Gate. This Church was founded in 1120 and is said to owe it's origin to Thurstan, who was the Archbishop of York from 1114-1143. Over the next 700 years St Mary's underwent several additions and alterations to the building. However, the present building still retains much of it's original features and it is still an active Parish Church with a full programme of events and services. |
