Detailed review by Gatote
The Guest House offers 2 double rooms and one suite. The double rooms can be combined if necessary. A beach house, with great attention to detail has been built and furnished. The charming owner Chimmy deals together with Housekeeperin Natasha personally to their guests. The suite (which we have inhabited) offers much privacy. You can really speak of luxury, because the facility and materials are carefully selected and tastefully combined. The very low price includes breakfast.
Location
The Guest House is located in the loosely built-up beach village "Stoney Point" in Betty's Bay. A walk to beautiful sandy beach lasts max. 5 minutes. The airport is about 60 minutes, to Cape Town for about 1.5 hours drive. The location is ideal for daily excursions throughout the Cape to Cape Town, Cape Peninsula, wine regions and the centers of the whale watching. Nearby there is a penguin colony to visit. Supposable even as a stop between Cape Town and Garden Route. The roads are well developed. Public transport is unfortunately little in the region. Even for shopping you have to climb into the car. But here is Chimmy helpful. She purchased and prepared for example a complete Braii (barbecue) for us on an open barbecue, and for as little as 6 euros per person.
Service
It is perfect English and Afrikaans, and Portuguese spoken. The room is cleaned daily. The large towels are changed every two days. Chimmy explains routes, gives valuable hints, and deals with all matters needed by her guests.
Gastronomy
The breakfast in two versions: "full" and "healthy" is tasty and plentiful. The "full" version consists of eggs, bacon, tomatoes and sausage. The "healthy" version with muesli, yoghurt, fruit, cheese and croissants. Both breakfasts are coming with coffee or tea, milk, toast, homemade jam and freshly squeezed orange juice.
Facilities
There is a small pool. For a fee of 7 euros, you can also use a "Hot Tub", ie a heated whirlpool. Especially beautiful at night under the magnificent starry sky. A small fee to get wireless access. Chimmy arrange massages, reserves seats in a nearby (also great) Italian restaurant, or in a sushi bar on the coast of the neighboring (wow!). Or how about a private English course, quad biking, etc. - We were only a week there, but you won´t be bored here during several weeks ...
Rooms
As already mentioned: Very tastefully decorated. One double bed, from which one never wants to get up: the mattress is so comfortable. Flatscreen TV with many satellite programs. In the suite bathroom with tub, shower and bidet. The patio with gas cooker, fridge and grill (open fireplace), seating and a beautiful wooden table. The area is quiet and safe. Parking bays at the house. The suite and one of the double rooms have a separate entrance.
Impression and recommendations
We were mid / late March. During the day, warm at around 20-25 degrees, ideal for sightseeing. At night, you need have a jumper, about 15 degrees. We were not swimming because the water was too cold. The whale watching season is May to November. In the South African winter's never really cold. Therefore, certainly recommended for sightseeing. Between November and March, with summer temperatures around 30 degrees. Eating out is generally inexpensive.
