[Newfloridian, 13/08/2006] The Grand Hyatt Hotel is a relatively new addition to a modern development in the centre of Berlin. A low rise brick built (eight floors) multi-storey with a large neon sign at its summit, it is part of the lively environs of the Potsdam Platz. The approach to the main entrance once off the main road is somewhat unprepossessing but the streets around are girded by bistros (of which the hotel has its own), boutiques and a recently opened shopping arcade.
The foyer is a cavernous place, dressed in brown and quite dimly lit. There is valet parking and a multi-story car park is near by. Regist

[proxam, 07/08/2005] Originally, The Brandenburg Gate was nothing more than a simple toll-gate which marked the western boundary of the city, but the story behind the structure that stands there today is anything but simple.
It was constructed in a neo-classical style (the first in Berlin, apparently) between 1788 and 1791 and was modeled on the Propylaea - the entrance to the Acropolis, and stands an impressive 65m high, 213m wide and 36m deep, although I didn't actually measure it myself.
Ironically, it was initially designed as an Arch of Peace.

Wir nehmen die S-Bahn Linie 7 nach Marzahn und am Bahnhof den Bus Nr. 195, er fährt uns direkt zum Eingang des Erholungsparks Marzahn. Dieser wurde 1987 anlässlich der 750-Jahrfeier von Berlin eingerichtet. Wir bezahlen 2 Euro Eintritt und betreten das riesige Gelände, indem sich ein Rhododendron Park, ein Märchengarten und eben auch der Chinesische Garten befinden, für den kein Extraeintritt mehr zu bezahlen ist.
