[10/09/2006] Y was in Berlin during the World Cup 2006 and stayed at the Grand Hyatt, the exterior of which he describes as "unimpressive". Once inside, however, "you are in a very modern minimalistic, dark black lobby area". The author recommends the hotel to those who are into a "modern look and feel". The location of the hotel is rather close to "many major attractions", but nevertheless you feel as if you are in a "dead end". The hotel also has a "cool" restaurant and the author gives it a thumbs up "for the Japanese-European fusion food". The service was "uneven", which surprised the author, who stayed at the club floor. He describes the staff as a "mix of friendly and accomodating staff" to "uber teutonic commading staff". The rooms are "not large", but have a "nice" bathroom. The concierge service was "excellent", but not as good as at the Marriott. The author has stayed in the big 5 star hotels of Berlin and would stay at the Grand Hyatt again, preferring it over the Ritz and the Mariott.
