[magdadh, 13/12/2009] We spend our last night in Italy in beautiful Bergamo, a town from whose Orio al Serio airport we were flying back to Prestwick and which Ryanair calls "Milan - Bergamo", but which is in fact located 50km away from Milan, in the beautiful, hilly area near Lake Como and which is a worthy destination in itself.
We booked a triple the room plus cot for the toddler over the phone, using Internet information and we were picked up at the train station by the proprietress, who made us feel very welcome indeed and who spoke good English. Later on she gave us a map of town and clear instructions on

[TheDaz, 30/12/2008] At the bottom of the main street that runs the length of the old centre of Bergamo - the train station retains its Imperial Facade, and compact feel common to a lot of provincial railway stations. On the Milan line, the station also serves points southeast towards the Veneto, and North and East towards the Austrian border.
With a few platforms, a shop, a kiosk that sells bus tickets that look like Lottery tickets(rather confusing), and the usual information booths, there really isn't much to the place - not even, disappointingly, left luggage (nearest is at the airport).

[lavanda, 01/11/2008] Sweet Irene is a perfect place to spend a greedy afternoon, drinking precoius teas and tasting delicous cakes. The ambient is so confy and tiny, like an Alice room with labels on everything saying " EAT ME".
With a great choise on the menù anf for a yummy shopping, you'll be for sure happy for the visit.
The only flaws are that the place is close on Sunday, and the slices of cake fit with diet purposes...
