GASTRONOMY
Whenever we visit Benidorm is advisable to taste some of their traditional dishes found in some restaurants.
These are local products from the country combined with sea products. Perhaps most famous dish in Benidorm is Mullet Risotto and Squash. Although they have a deserved reputation: rice and beans and turnips and rice with anchovies and spinach. Others are: fish casserole with onions, the Ali Oli and the Pebrot, a sailor dish that is prepared with mahi-mahi, a bluefish that can be found from late September until December.
Among the sweets, highlights some specialties, such as potato cakes sweet loaf of SanBlas. Theere is also well known the Coca (a traditional cake).
The national option includes representatives of various regional cuisines such as the Asturian, Basque, Castilian, Aragonese, ... or local families who run Andalusian restaurants and, of course, the Mediterranean cuisine with its most emblematic dish, Paella.
There is a parallel gastronomic culture wich is the tapas, they designed a map that affects downtown. Streets of Santo Domingo, Martinez Oriola and Constitution Square host hundreds of people wandering from bar to bar, enjoying tapas and snacks. Most of these bars are run by Basques offering a cuisine of this land but, above all, focused on developing rapid and specific appetizer attributed to skewer.
The city has here one of his most famous meeting places, brimming with people both in summer and winter. Benidorm is a great resort town, attracting more than 6 million tourists a year, so we can find in the streets of Benidorm an excellent gastronomic offer ready to the people who visit us.

The Rincón deLoix, Calle Mallorca and Lepanto bars and restaurants have letters from British-style meals. For other nearby places or scattered in different places of the city is Belgian or Swedish local gastronomic culture offering more unknown dishes for our taste. Also Asian restaurants can be found, even a top notch japanese before arriving Terra Mitica. To these are added the Indian, Thai, Turks or Mexicans with spices and flavorings. The accepted Italian food has in store a very large place in the list of restaurants and establishments Argentine beef has earned reputation.
In short, food in the city goes from the simple and international Burger, through the paella, the buffet menu or budget to a more elaborate meal, adapted to new times and most demanding palates in which ingredients are based on the Mediterranean. Even some restaurant are included in prestigious Michelin Guide.

GASTRONOMY
One of the Costa Blanca’s main attractions is its food and drink.
A culture shaped by its Moorish agricultural past and by its Mediterranean character.
Rice is the star ingredient of our local dishes. As well as paella, we have rice broth dishes such as arròs amb fessols i naps, rice with beans and turnip, and sticky rice dishes, as well as arroz con costra, baked in the oven with egg and sausage.
Caldero, stew, and arroz a banda, rice with a fish broth, are very simple rice dishes that reproduce the recipes of seamen sailing from the ports of Alicante and can be accompanied by aperitifs such as salted and dried tuna, with which products such as bulls and mojamas can be made.
Both our wines and spirits have their Denominación de Origen (Denominations of Origin).
The muscatels and white wines of the Marina Alta and the Fondillón del Vinalopó are our best-known sweet wines.
Our reds are strong and robust, with high alcohol content.
As regards liqueurs, Anís Paloma, Alcoy’s Café Licor, Cantueso and Herrero, (made using aromatic herbs from the la Sierra de Mariola mountains) are strong drinks traditionally enjoyed after meals.
Our best-known desserts are the famous turrones, (nougats), and the traditionally made ice creams by the universally acclaimed craftsmen from Xixona.
Our pastries are typically Arabic in both origin and taste and include “rosquillas de anís”, aniseed biscuits, or “aguardiente”, eau-de-vie biscuits, empanadillas de boniato, pumpkin pasties and the almojabena fritters.
