[koshkha, 10/10/2010] In the days when the British were trying to stamp their mark on India, Tipu Sultan and his father Hyder Ali were thorns in their side. As other local leaders fell under the rule of the East India Company and the British army, Tipu Sultan fought back again and again, earning himself the nickname of the Tiger of Mysore. He wasn't a sultan - his father just gave him that name, a bit like Michael Jackson calling his son 'Prince Michael' but sometimes if you believe it enough, you can make a name into a title.

[koshkha, 10/10/2010] If you had asked me what there was to see in Bangalore before we actually went there, then I would have struggled to tell you the main attractions with the exception of the Lal Bagh gardens and its famous greenhouse. [koshkha, 06/07/2010] We stayed at Terrace Gardens in Bangalore for three days over two visits. The first visit was for two nights and then we left for Mysore and returned a few days later for a final night. I found the hotel after asking for advice on the Indiamike travel website. If you don’t know a city, especially one as large as Bangalore, it’s really tough to choose somewhere. Add to that the fact that Bangalore is ridiculously expensive and that many of the lower cost hotels don’t have websites, and you’ll understand why a recommendation is so important.
Terrace Gardens was recommended as a British-style
