[LoungeLizzard, 28/11/2011] True luxury in a very central location but not cheap. However the money is well spent and with a few lacks if it comes to services, the hotel fulfills all expectations of a traveler searching for an oasis of luxury in sometimes noisy Beijing. Rooms are well designed and in good shape. And the restaurants are really good
[cassandra_the_cat, 24/05/2011] Han's Royal Garden, member of Small Luxury Hotels, is located in Dongcheng in downtown Beijing, near the main sights of Tiananmen Square and The Forbidden City.
The hotel is a converted house of a former nobleman, with a lot of the original Chinese charm such as courtyards with fish basins still intact.
Service is outstanding, rooms are spacious and luxurious, and both breakfast and dinner at the restaurant were very nice culinary experiences.
[raral777, 21/05/2011] This is my first time staying this kind of traditional hotel. Before I arrived there I really very exited. At last we arrived and fully satisfied with there traditional architectural design with friendly skilled staff. We enjoy lots of different types of Chinese traditional delicious food there. Hotel is situated near subway station and highway for that it's very easy to visit another area at Beijing. We really satisfied and enjoy our stay at imperial courtyard.
[mousumi, 05/02/2011] The hotel is located in the centre of the Beijing, an excellent location in a historic building and only a short walk into town. The staff are warm and helpful. The room is huge and decorated in a traditional Chinese style. There are nice touches, such as having your name on the door. The restaurant is excellent and the food is amongst the best we've had in the Beijing.
[fishbob, 11/07/2010] The Super 8 was / okay / (please note the emphasis) and that's about all i can say about it.
The rooms weren't particularly amazing - just a bed, desk and lamp, and not much else. I'm not sure what I was expecting from this place when I booked, but I was kind of disappointed on getting there.
The staff was polite but not very helpful when I asked them for directions, and i had to ask twice for them to clean the room.
Hopefully your experience here will be better than mine!
[koshkha, 05/07/2010] I stayed at the Swissotel in Beijing about 5 years ago on a business trip. I’ve stayed in many Chinese hotels but strangely this is the only one whose name I still remember years later. Swissotels are always lovely but very different from each other. It’s nice to stay in a place that’s not driven to try to make all their hotels look the same.
The hotel is enormous. It’s a curved multi-story building that sits at the intersection of two busy roads. It’s actually set a bit lower than the roads which is a bit weird at first. The lobby is spectacular with a tall atrium and masses of shiny marbl

[verenaW, 01/06/2010] It was great to get the room immediately upon arrival in the morning after coming of a long red eye flight into Beijing.
Rooms are HUGE, hotel is very stylish and personally I like the more intimate feel of this hotel vs some of the other very large complexes I've seen in the city during my stay.
Lobby with this lovely library corner has a much nicer ambience then some of these big bunkers. Very beautiful meeting areas and great Chinese Restaurant. Just sorry I didn't have time for the pool / relax areas, had a quick look though - beautiful!
But the best part was the very friendly and att

[happysh2009, 01/12/2009] I have visited one friend in the hotel last year.
location: it's located at the north of Lidu business centre, which is in developing. So the surrounding area is not as beautiful as the central part of Beijing.
it's very convinent to airport if you take a taxi. it will cost £6 to get Beijing Capital Airport from the hotel.
it's easy to the Yansha shopping mall as well as the embassy area. However it is a little far to the main tourist sites.
Price: it's just about £25 per double room per night.
service: the staff are very friendly and provide service on time. the room is very

The Ming tombs are about 30 miles to the North of Beijing where tombs of the 13 of the 16 Ming Emperors from the Ming Dynasty are built. Only 11 emperors are actually buried here as two of them were buried elsewhere. One was buried in Nanjing the former capital of China.
The other Emperor Jingtai was denied an imperial burial by his brother and was instead buried as a prince towards the east of Beijing. Tiansun was the original Emperor but was kidnapped and held by the Mongols during a war. Eventually the government installed Jingtai his brother to the throne. After 8 yea

[pcambell, 07/10/2009] Poor service is an understatement. The staff are extremely rude. I've traveled extensively around China. The Cinderella Apartments is one of my all time worse experiences. Moreover, the hotel is out in the super suburbs of Beijing, past the 5th ring road. There is absolutely nothing nearby. In order to get anywhere you might want to go, you will have to take a bus to a subway, transfer at least once, and then likely another bus. A cab into the city will run you about 50 yuan and a great deal of time. My advice, there are plenty of places inside the city with much more pleasant staff. Any money

[happysh2009, 07/10/2009] Advantages: historical site.
Disadvantages: too big too crowded.
I have lived in Beijing for more than 11 years. I visited Forbidden City several times.
Briefly I would like to say if you want to know Chinese history in the late 500 years, you must visit Forbidden City also know as Palace museum.
It was an imperial palace for Ming and Qing dynasties (1368-1911). During the period there were 24 emperors and their families. Now it's a public museum. It is famous as one of world five palaces and one of World Heritages.
There you can see Chinese Ancient buildings that are the big

Beijing Zoo is one of the most popular tourist sites in Beijing. It was built in 1908 and was the first zoo to be opened to the general public in China.
It is located in the Xicheng district of Beijing city, which is now one of prosperous business areas of the city. It's very easy to get there as many buses pass by the zoo. You could also try one of the two canal routes, which leave via Summer Palace.
Beijing Zoo covers an area of more than 50 000 square meters, has a collection of more

Disadvantages: none.
Brief introduction
The Summer Palace is located in the northwest suburb of Beijing. It was built in 1750 by an Emperor Qianlong to celebrate his mother's birthday. It was originally named Garden of Clear Ripples.
Historically it was burned down twice by foreign invaders and was rebuilt by the governors of Qing dynasty.
In 1924 the Summer Palace was formally opened to public as a park.
In 1998 it was inscribed on the World Heritage List.

If you lived in Beijing and you said you don't know Hotel Kunlun people would think you were joking. I have lived in Beijing for over 11 years and visited the hotel many times for business meetings and leisure. Personally I think it's one of the best hotels in Beijing.
Location
The Hotel Kunlun is situated just inside the Third Ring Road of Beijing, which is the main traffic link between the centre of Beijing and the suburbs. Its central location is convenient for visitors and guests. From

We stayed in the Friendship hotel at the beginning of our tour of China and at the end.
The hotel is situated on the outskirts of Beijing near the third ring road so you are quite a distance from the centre and the tourist attractions. It is handy for getting to the Great Wall and to the Summer Palace. However it is quite near the University of Beijing so there tends to be a lot of young people in the surrounding streets. There is a massive shopping complex opposite the hotel which is cheap but a bit hair raising to cross the road. Its advisable only to use the

What is the Forbidden City?
This is a city built for the Chinese Emperor who was cocooned in the vast city within a city. Building started on the palace in 1406 and it took 16 years to build. Over one million workers were involved in the building of it and precious woods and marble were used from all corners of China in its construction. The area it covered is approximately 720,000 square meters. It was a massive project which was to house the imperial Chinese dynasties from early Ming dynasty to Qing dynasty, the last emperor. In total it housed 24 Emperor

[Candide, 09/08/2009] This is the Chinese counterpart of "Ye Olde Tudor Inn" but despite the kitsch it was perfect for me. It is in a narrow, smelly, lane ("hutong") full of friendly life. They claim the building was lived in by a noted scholar in the late 18th century. The rooms are round little courtyards with no traffic noise. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The internet connection in my room was not that good but three computers were freely available for guests in the social areas. There is airconditioning, but I just left my windows open. Possibly the rooms might be rather cold in winter.
