[frangliz, 29/12/2011] Bath city centre has no shortage of restaurants to offer, but many of them close between 2.30pm and 6pm. We had to catch a train just after 6.30pm and realised that we would have to settle for a chain restaurant that stayed open throughout the afternoon. My younger son had taken his girlfriend to Ask a few weeks before and recommended it. I had never been to Ask as we don't have one locally, so I was all in favour of trying somewhere new.
When we arrived at 4.30pm that Saturday the place was fairly quiet and as there were three of us we were shown to a table that was intended for four. Before

[gary57, 02/12/2011] Stayed there for the weekend using the Tesco clubcard tokens, we were allocated room 16, an awful room, it smelled damp and musty, it was like being in a dungeon. we asked for a better room and had to pay an extra £100, we were given room 212 which was equally awful but at least didn't smell of anything untoward. The only advice I would give anyone is don't stay in these rooms, I cant say what the rest of the rooms are like but I would never stay at this hotel again.
[argdeb, 24/11/2011] We stayed one night but booked 3 rooms to accommodate the size of our party!
Good points;
The hotel rooms are average size with new fixtures and fittings to the bedrooms & bathrooms.
Breakfast choice was good, even though the fruit juice was warm.
Bad Points;
Bedroom floor needed hovering, long hair all over it by the mirror.
Bath plug hole also full of hair.
Receptionist was not helpful when asked where could we park to unload, etc.
Breakfast staff polite but win no awards!
Two of our rooms were not in the hotel but an annexe located behind the hotel, which on the outside looks a little da

[frangliz, 09/11/2011] Wandering around Bath late one Saturday afternoon, there seemed to be coffee shops at every turn but not much sign of restaurants. A visit to the Tourist Information Office solved the problem, as they gave us a leaflet showing a variety of eateries situated in the city centre. We narrowed it down to two, and soon found ourselves outside the Cafe du Globe, described as a Moroccan and international restaurant. It was about 5.15pm and a group of people just in front of us were told that it was too late for afternoon tea but that they were welcome to have dinner. When our turn came we thought the

[frangliz, 25/08/2011] We occasionally visit Bath for the day to meet up with my son who lives in Bristol, and we like to try a different restaurant each time we go. There is no shortage of eateries in Bath, but the problem is that many of them close between 2.30 and 6pm. We were looking for somewhere at about 3 in the afternoon and drew a few blanks. Just as we were going to head back to Cafe Rouge, we came upon the Firehouse Rotisserie in John Street. Yes, they were still serving food and yes, they did have a table for four, right by the window.
At first the restaurant seemed quite small, but I discovered later t

[christian_jp, 03/03/2011] you should go to the entrance of the Bath train station. Before entering you will notice a tiny café on the right and a passage next to it. Walk through that passage and you get to the back-side of the train station. This is normally the opposite direction of where people go. Alas, continue and venture upwards through the mingle of small streets, back-alleys and steep stairways. All the way to the beginning of the earthen road and continue until you get to the top. Here you will find a bench, that has been waiting for you. From here you can watch the hills reaching for the skies all around the

[shainebach, 10/01/2011] one of the only restaurants in Bath that does not close at 9pm...we had a great experience - lovely food and atmosphere and amazing space for an indian restaurant. good price too.
[shainebach, 10/01/2011] where and how should i start? I do not like to be negative, but unfortunately i have to.
firstly let me do say that they are renovating the place, which MIGHT cause some of the issues, but then they still shouldn't let people stay there, or advise upon check-in. both the tv wasn't working and there was only tipied, not powerful water from the shower room. we mentioned about the tv and they didnt really make any effort to solve it. so we didnt bother saying about the water. further the sheets were so thin, we were so cold.
then next morning at breakfast, they moved the location - so that was

[loulou421, 22/08/2010] really horrible food, cheap houmous they bought from tesco with rubiish frozen pittas definitely not worth £6.00. what a waste of time and money, had a horrendous night in a bar where only a few odd looking people turned up and the staff were rude even though they were desperate for customers. it appeared that no one wanted to come here perhaps because they'd tried the horrible food and hated the average and quiet atmosphere, not popular with awful food. i will never go here again.
[divz99, 08/07/2010] A day spa with a rooftop pool and natural minerla water as used by the romans thousands of years ago.Its a day spa with a lovely cafe serving healthy fresh food throughout the day. You are given towels and slippers and locker on arrival which need to be paid for.
I went there with my husband we both thoroughly enjoyed our day spent there including the massages and treatments.
[divz99, 06/07/2010] It is a lovely hotel in an old style building and quite a grand entrance with fountains and garden.The hotel spa is specially nice with natural mineral water pool, indoor and part of it goes outside which makes it quite nice.The steam and sauna areas are complete with showers with various scents.
The hotel is not too far from the town centre, but if you visit bath for its spa and mineral water expereience, its a good choice.
[greejn, 29/06/2010] Pulteney Bridge connects the imposing Pulteney Street with the centre of Bath, and you should definitely see it if you have the time. It is modelled on the famous Ponte Vecchio in Florence, but as it crosses the River Avon rather than the Arno, it is much smaller and less impressive.You should also see the bridge from the back, because it is much less sophisticated from that angle!
The bridge is lined with small specialist shops and boutiques, and is also the gateway to the river - if you go down the steps you will find a maze, a very nice little cafe with river views, and the river boats tha

[tartlette, 14/04/2010] Mr Tart and I were recently looking for somewhere to have a nice meal out in Bath. Being the sensible (or should that be tight!) people we are we don’t tend to go out for dinner unless it’s accompanied with a Martin (Moneysavingexpert) voucher. We’ve done the rounds on most of the places they have on offer so Mr Tart suggested we try Brasserie Gerard with a buy one get one free on mains offer I was happy to see what it was like.
LOCATION AND OPENING
The branch of Brasserie Gerard that we tried was the Bath one. It is located on the Empire Grand Parade, near Pultney Bridge, so it is pr

[tartlette, 09/10/2009] This week I spent a day helping the present Mr Tart to move out of his flat as he’s moving to a new place in a couple of days. By the end of the day of clearing and cleaning (which followed a weekend of packing!) we were both exhausted. Mr Tart is staying with me until his new place is ready so I had been planning to cook that evening but I realised that I didn’t have any food in. We thought about going out for a Martin (moneysavingexpert) 2 for 1 deal but Mr Tart said he wanted something a bit more special to thank me for lugging all his stuff! Never one to turn down a free meal I suggest

[roseycheeks, 26/03/2009] In June 2008, it was my friend's hen night. So we arrange this surprised pampering experience for her since it is the only natural hot spring in United Kingdom. There are 8 of us all together. We took the train and then arrive at the Bath Spa rail station and then took 2 taxis to get to the spa. It took us about 5 minutes to get there.
We booked the 4-hour spa session and cost GBP32 (EUR34) per person. As soon as we get there we were given an armband each. We get access the Minerva Bath, Spring café and restaurant, Open-air rooftop pool, Aroma steam rooms and waterfall shower. We have to brin

[fingaler10, 21/01/2009] Family of three stayed for three nights over the Christmas period. Great hotel set in pretty gardens, the newly refurbished rooms are very comfortable and nicely presented. Disappointed the place wasn't busier but at least it meant we were upgraded to a suite, giving our daughter a room of her own. Food was on the whole excellent, imaginative and well cooked, although some of the other guests commented that they found the food a little fussy at times (not keen on a more modern style I guess). The one meal that was a bit of a let down was Christmas Day lunch, which was a very disappointing turk
