Family of three stayed for three nights over the Christmas period. Great hotel set in pretty gardens, the newly refurbished rooms are very comfortable and nicely presented. Disappointed the place wasn't busier but at least it meant we were upgraded to a suite, giving our daughter a room of her own. Food was on the whole excellent, imaginative and well cooked, although some of the other guests commented that they found the food a little fussy at times (not keen on a more modern style I guess). The one meal that was a bit of a let down was Christmas Day lunch, which was a very disappointing turkey roast and an even more disappointing plate of vegetables for non-meat eaters. Thankfully this wasn't representative of the other meals! Service was attentive but not intrusive. Denis, the manager, runs a good team and would definitely recommend the hotel to others looking for a relaxing, quiet stay in the country.
