I was delighted to stumble upon this hidden gem in the back streets of Sarria neighbourhood.
It stood out on a Friday night as somewhere with a variety of tantalising local foods in the window, including a giant bowl of eclectic wild mushrooms, and an easy modern style in a small package of a restaurant. I tried to get a seat impromptu but was forced to get the hotel to call up the next day to make a booking as Friday night was fully booked. I'm glad I did as i was in for a treat & could easily have booked up 3 nights in a row. I'll likely be going back tonight, despite the fact that it is a little pricier than other restaurants in the area.
Food style is traditional Spanish but with a modern twist. Even the toasted bread with tomato was mouthwateringly good. Then had mushroom pasta with soft egg on top and then perfectly cooked cod with chilli/ kidney beans. I was itching to try about twelve more things on the menu.
Very friendly team - comes highly recommended.

Accessibility is excellent for where I am based in the northern suburb of Sarria. A bit of a slog from the centre of town but part of this restaurant and areas charm is that it is off the beaten track in a residential area. Locals abound.
I'm torn on budget friendlyness. It is more expensive than most other places in the area but I thought it was fantastic value. The waiter gave me half a bottle of white wine for €6, which was a barg and rather tasty house wine.
The service was charming. I didn't speak Catalan or Castilian and the waiter didn't speak English but we muddled through between us in rather a painful but fun dissection of the menu.
The food was a gastronomic adventure centred on tasty local ingredients. I could eat there every day for a week. Plenty of fish & meat options to go around.
I took some points off for ambiance, because whilst charming that is not the point of coming here - the restaurant is modern, cosy and charming but not a destination in itself - i like this but to give it more marks would suggest something more that it doesn't have. Guests? They seemed ok ;-)
