[18.01.2008] The Arc del Triomf is located at one end of a large pedestrianised promenade close to the Parc de la Ciutadella. It was built in 1888 for the entrance into the Universal Exposition (world fair) and the designer was Josep Vilaseca i Casanovas. [17.12.2007] Did not stroll along the full length of Las Ramblas just seemed to pop onto it from a side street. The paved area is quite wide with a narrow road on either side, these are one way roads. Lined along the roads are many old buildings with wrought iron balconies around them. [16.12.2007] The bike tour started in the Plaza Sant Jaume at 11am we got there late 11.20 due to getting lost coming out of the Metro at Jaume and turning left instead of right.
