[18.01.2008] The Arc del Triomf is located at one end of a large pedestrianised promenade close to the Parc de la Ciutadella.
It was built in 1888 for the entrance into the Universal Exposition (world fair) and the designer was Josep Vilaseca i Casanovas.
The structure can be seen from along way off, as you get closer you realise how big the Arc del Triomf actually is with it's reddish brick and crowned columns..

[17.12.2007] Did not stroll along the full length of Las Ramblas just seemed to pop onto it from a side street.
The paved area is quite wide with a narrow road on either side, these are one way roads. Lined along the roads are many old buildings with wrought iron balconies around them.

[16.12.2007] The bike tour started in the Plaza Sant Jaume at 11am we got there late 11.20 due to getting lost coming out of the Metro at Jaume and turning left instead of right. Chris the tour guide was happy enough to sort our bikes out and set off a little late and the people who had arrived on time did not mind either. 20 riders where on our tour and Chris said this was quite large.
