Be sure to take your sunglasses along if you decide to pay Parc Guell a visit!
The Parc is located on the top of the hill, el Carmel in the Gracia district of the the city, so is quite a steep 200m walk up so be warned however is worth the effort. Its free entry which is good news for those on a budget and opens 10am to 7pm in March & Oct, April & October, til 8pm and open to 9pm May & August. During the winter months, the Parc closes at 6pm.
So after a steep uphill trek, we were greeted by what can only be described as an icing topped gingerbread house. The house looked like that form Hansel and Grettle and really did look good enough to pick bits off and eat!
After Sagrada Familia, Antoni Gaudis Parc Guell is his second most ambitious project and we could see why. The Parc is an amazingly bright and colourful place and is certainly a place that adults and children alike will enjoy. Some of the features we enjoyed the most were a huge, mosaic tiled dragon that ran down the length of the main steps and I also particularly loved the multi coulored tiled seats that are at the top of the parc giving stunning views of the city. This terrace was a lovely place for us to stop for some holiday snaps and take in the scenery that Barcelona had to offer...
A great place to spend a few hours and Id certainly re-visit.
