Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya

Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya

The National Museum of Catalan Art covers the period from Romanesque to mid 20th century and includes a wide range of decorative arts. Whilst some of the Romanesque and Baroque collections are quite international in scope with works from all over Europe, the later works are almost entirely Catalan in origin. The museum is open Tuesday to Saturday from 10.00 to 21.00 but closes on Sunday at 14.30. It is closed on Mondays except on bank holidays. Admission is free on the first Sunday of each month. Admission charges are €8.50 for adults with reductions for students, unemployed, families and groups and ticket holders for the tourist bus. Children under 15 enter free. Tickets are valid for two days and include an audio guide. Guided tours are available but must be booked 10 days in advance. The museum is well served with public transport and the nearest Metro station is at Placa Espanya (lines 1 and 3). Many buses pass nearby both the standard public buses and the tourist hop-on-hop-off service.
