Frommers recommend a visit to the Columbus Monument which consists of a three-part structure which "was erected at the Barcelona harbor on the occasion of the Universal Exhibition of 1888." The first structure features "eight iron heraldic lions" as well as "eight bronze bas-reliefs depicting Columbus's principal feats", whilst the second consists of "an eight-sided polygon, four sides of which act as buttresses". There is also a Corinthian column which "boasts representations of Europe, Asia, Africa, and America" and the crowning glory "is a 7.5m (25-ft.) high bronze statue of Columbus". The
