Detailed review by MarZ
Pirin National Park is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful areas in Bulgaria, a home to a rich variety of wildlife and amazing flora, such as the famous edelweiss.
The park offers a variety of hiking trails and recreational activities. Pirin National Park has a network of 13 excellent tourist routes which pass by spectacular natural landmarks and places of cultural or ethnographic interest. The duration of these routes varies from 2, 5 to up to 8 hours. Rock climbing is practiced only by professionals with a lot of experience. Routes for rock climbers provided with all utilities have been developed on the northern face of Vihren peak and the peaks Samodivski and Glavnishki Chukar. Cycling and horse riding, due to the rocky and dangerous relief can be practiced only in the peripheral areas of the park and within the adjacent areas.
Within boundaries of Pirin National Park lies the town of Melnik which is itself a historical, architectural and cultural monument. 4 km away from Melnik is the popular Rozhen monastery. The old town of Bansko charms visitors with its narrow cobbled streets and stone buildings which have preserved the beautiful architecture of the Bulgarian national revival. Bansko is also world-known ski resort.
