At this hotel I had one of my greatest New Year Eves. I went there to be a company of my husband that was the host of the event and though I was fated to stay alone all night, I didn’t feel like this, everything was nice and very cheerful.
The hotel is totally designed as Bulgarian-national-themed . It is build from stone and wood or at least this is the perception. It is very cozy inside, the lobby is with a fireplace used not only for decoration, although it is nice for pictures also. The benches are very nice with soft pillows and if you just need to rest there, you would not be bothered. The restaurant, mehana, has a very nice atmosphere also, very delicate lighting on the walls and enhances this coziness that is beaming from every part of the hotel, the windows are small, just like belonging to each table, and this is probably to keep the hall warm enough during the winter. Vien Saloon is little bit more modern, has smaller tables next to each bigger window with aristocratic curtains, probably the most non-Bulgarian-themed part of the hotel, but with a very delicate atmosphere also. It has a piano, I heard it play once and it was a very relaxing experience.
The New Years Eve was prepared very professional, with a cheerful program with various artists, the music was extremely good, so was the food, pretty much and of a very nice quality. There was a TV set at the end of the hall I was, but it was just a furniture, airing some channels, nobody was more interested at them.
Rooms, at least the regular ones, are nice and clean but very narrow, very narrow. Their design was supposed to be Bulgarian-themed, but I would say that here the décor manager did not have his best artwork. The place was just enough to pass around your bed, and the curtains were something I would not call a Bulgarian item, but for sure this does not mean room was bad designed, just could have been better. Bathroom was nice, new, nice colors and condition of the terracotta tiles and equipment and again very tight.
