A good hotel in a central location, but the service attitude is somewhat annoying and in so far I am thinking twice to stay there, if I have other choices in Bangkok. Even as a returning guest, they try to argue with me about benefits. In the end I get the benefits I am entitled to receive, but I really do not understand why it the same procedure for my next stay. And the service is not as good as it has been at the beginning. Otherwise the views of the rooms are good and the roof top pool is nice but small. The main problem is, they are not outstanding anymore, they are below average of the luxury chains. And the rates are still high, but compared to true luxury brand like the St. Regis, Four Seasons or Peninsula, they can really justify their rates and the service is not as good as it must be to justify the still high rates. I will return, but this is depending on where my clients are located and the other choices in Bangkok are not bad.

381 deluxe guest rooms, including 49 Club InterContinental rooms and 39 suites.
All the rooms have outstanding views, the Deluxe Rooms are available with king-size beds and twin beds, while the suites only have king size beds. Rooms are of average size. Bathrooms are decorated in Italian marble, with spacious bathtubs, separate, glass-enclosed shower units. Some rooms began to show its age and a few scratches and stains are clearly visible. And the design is also nothing too fancy and somehow even the local touch is missing.
The after the rebranding refurbished Club InterContinental Lounge on the 32nd floor (non-Club InterContinental guests are welcome to use this facility for an extra fee per person) has a complimentary meeting room, which I sometimes use for a meeting with clients. The club also offers free drinks and internet facilities.
However some rooms begin to show its age. Housekeeping is okay, but they are sometimes a bit annoying asking when you check out, even if the regular check out time is not reached not to mention a late check out.

The hotel offers a 24-hour business centre with boardroom, private office space and full secretarial services including shorthand, typing, word processing, translation, fax, cable, photocopying and printing of business cards in Thai Language. It is possible to have a complimentary fax machines upon request in your room, you only have to pay for the costs of sending the fax. Video players and mobile telephones can be hired.
Meetings of between 10 and 2,000 guests can be held in 14 rooms, with individual capacities of up to 1500 person. Technical capabilities include ISDN lines, satellite and video conference linkage - or in short everything one would expect in a hotel like this.
The large fitness centre has a lot of machines for every sort of work out or body building. The machines are in good shape and the staff is usually friendly and helpful. The hotel offers also a spa with 13 private rooms.
A swimming pool and sun terrace are on the rooftop (open 0600 to 2200 daily), but unfortunately and in my eyes too often closed for private receptions.
The downside is the service, which is not the best if it comes to status recognition. They are stingy in regard to upgrades and try to read the terms & conditions like they want. This leads to the fact, that one has to fight for the benefits like not upgrading you, not honoring the free minibar for a Royal Ambassador and differ between a in room bar and a minibar. They also tend to empty the minibar and claim that this is not benefit. This is ridiculous As a frequent guest, they is no special recognition and even if far away from elevator is in my customer profile, I too often get a room close to the elevator. This could happen once but not every third or so stay.

The hotel has quite a few food outlets, Summer Palace serves Cantonese food, or there’s Shin Daikoku for Japanese, Espresso for all-day dining combining Eastern and Western cuisine and either à la carte or buffet for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Service is of average attentiveness in the Espresso during breakfast time but better for lunch and dinner and also in the other food outlets. Of course, the choices outside the hotel are cheaper, but that applies for all major cities.
The Oasis Bar, a rooftop pool snack bar, serving cocktails and light snacks but could not compete with the roof top bar of the Banyan Tree.

The hotel is located at one of the busiest commercial and shopping areas in Bangkok, surrounded by a large number of shopping malls. Depending on the traffic it needs up to 60 minutes to reach the international airport, a station of the BTS train is close to the hotel. The downside of the location is, it need time to reach or leave the hotel for meetings during rush hour.
