According to the Lonely Planet the Wat Phra Keo, which is also called "temple of the Emerald" is an "architectural wonder of gleaming, gilded stupas". Its "polished orange-green" roof is piercing the "humid" sky, "mosaic-encrusted" pillars and "rich marble" pediments. The shrine is "highly stylish ornamented" and is revered to the Emerald Buddha.
