The author describes the Ballachulish House Hotel in Ballachulish as an "intimate, lovely, country-house hotel" which dates from 1640 and nestles in gardens near "the shore of Loch Linnhe, in the shadows of Glencoe". He continues the bedrooms are "Georgian-style" and have "luxurious Egyptian linens" some even feature "four-poster beds".Surrounding the Hotel he reports is a "pretty golf course" which has "fine greens and majestic mountain scenery". The restaurant which is run by "Allan Donald, one of the country's best chefs" is "what makes the hotel outstanding" and it is "known for sophisticated Scottish fare". Such delights as "house-smoked Gressingham duck and Dover sole with scallop mousseline".
