[greejn, 10/06/2009] Conques is in the Lot valley area of France, and is an ancient pilgrim destination as it housed various bits of saints - which are still exhibited today, encased in intricate precious metals and gems. These can be alarming, and a bit macabre, but they are interesting in terms of the medieval world view. The Abbey has a small museum for this relics. To be honest, they are not a must-see! Conques is a place really untouched by the last century, or any other - many of the buildings seem to be from 11th to 13th centuries, there are no cars in the central area and the winding streets and lanes are
