Description: Avebury Stone Circle and the village of Avebury are listed as a World Heritage Site on UNESCO's list. The circle itself surrrounds and cuts through the village and is accessible 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The site dates back more than 5000 years and dwarfs the more famous Stonehenge which is located approximately 20 miles away. The circle is one of the largest in the world and has been voted as the UK's third most spiritual site.
The site, along with a museum, restaurant and shop are managed for the nation by the National Trust. The museum contains archaological finds and reconstructions of the circle.
